Oil Filter and Oil Information - 2006 VW Jetta GLI 2.0T FSI
Oil Filter and oil information for the VW/Audi 2.0T FSI engine. Resetting the service light procedure.
This information should cover 2.0T and 2.5L engines with codes AXW, BGQ, BLR, BLX, BLY, BPR, BPS, BPG, BPY. As always, please reference or check with your reseller or service department for accuracy.

` The filter is a cartridge type filter and is inside this housing:

You can get to this by removing the plastic shield under the engine, 4 torx screws on either side. The oil filter housing required a 36mm socket to open it up.
VW only recommends using oil that meets the VW 502.00 spec AND is approved by VW. One of these is the Mobil 1 oil in only the 0W-40, commonly found for cheap at Walmart. Be careful, there's new oils on the market that claim they meet the VW spec, but they are not APPROVED by VW. Stick to the list that VW publishes! The PDF list can be found here
Here is the cartridge type oil filter. A new rubber gasket should be included.
To reset the service indicator wrench:
- Hold down the odometer reset button with the ignition off
- Wait for the trip indicator to show 0's. Then turn the ignition on, but don't start the car
- Let go of the reset button, and press the M button.
